Middle Georgia Clean Cities Coalition This event convened the region’s community of alternative fuel vehicle users and advocates, while displaying a cross-section of non-polluting and low emission vehicles. Among many other AFV displays, General Motors had an E85 Avalanche as our ceremonial "Beyond A Billion" vehicle. Middle Georgia is progressively pursing ethanol as one of the fuels of choice for our region. The alternative vehicles on display demonstrated some of the ways we can reduce our dependency on imported oil, while also making the important connection between public health and air quality. The vehicles included those powered by CNG (compressed natural gas), electricity (from batteries), Propane (LPG), Ethanol and Biodiesel, fuels derived from agricultural products. The display also included “a hybrid from the fleet of Flint Energies,” vehicles which run on gasoline but use it more efficiently by generating electricity to power the wheels. It was a great event that had elected officials, fleet managers, fuel providers, procurement officers, the community at large, our youth, and other clean air advocates learning how we can be a "alternative fuels community".

Wisconsin Clean Cities - Southeast Area The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition joined more than 100 other persons and local dignitaries to dedicate the grand opening of another new ReNew 85 Station. The second Utica Renew E85 location is at 5724 Green Valley Court in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Paul Olson, Chairman of Utica Energy and ReNew, commented on the new station by talking about the opportunities that were presented by growing corn in the region, producing ethanol in the region, and selling the finished product in the region. Paul also noted that the local BP station across the highway from the ReNew facility, had lowered the price of their products to be able to compete with the new site. According to Olson, Utica Energy and ReNew plan on opening 98 additional E85 fueling locations across Wisconsin by Thanksgiving of 2006. |

State of Iowa Clean Cities On Friday, October 14, several fuel retailers across Iowa celebrated grand opening events in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Beyond a Billion event. The nation celebrated one billion gallons of petroleum being displaced through the efforts of Clean Cities Coalitions across the country. Over 3,000 gallons of E85 were pumped at the new E85 stations on Friday and hundreds of people were educated about E85 and flexible fuel vehicles, vehicles capable of running on E85. With the addition of these new stations, Iowa now has 21 stations pumping E85. A year ago, there were only 10 E85 stations located in Iowa. Through the efforts of the Iowa E85 Team and the NEVC, we’ve over doubled that number.
The Pro Cooperative Cenex of Pocahontas celebrated their grand opening event from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. They offered E85 for $1.85 a gallon from. Pocahontas Ford and Humboldt Motors displayed flexible fuel vehicles, vehicles capable of burning E85. Pro Cooperative Cenex is located at 101 North Main in Pocahontas.
The Linn County Coop Oil of Marion celebrated their grand opening event from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. E85 was offered for 85¢ off a gallon. Flexible fuel vehicles were also on display. Linn County Coop Oil is located at 325 35th Street in Marion
