CFDC, NEVC Awarded Grant for E85 Outreach

Lincoln , NE , January 15, 2008 : The Clean Fuels Development Coalition, the Clean Fuels Foundation, and the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition have teamed with the Nebraska Ethanol Board and received a grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and the Nebraska Rural Development Commission that was announced here today.

CFDC and NEVC will work with ethanol producers and E85 distributors and marketers to conduct a series of workshops covering a variety of subjects that will improve opportunities for direct E85 marketing. As the prime recipient of the grant, the Nebraska Ethanol Board will administer the project. One-day workshops, expected to begin in the second quarter of the year, will cover EPA storage requirements, fuel tax incentives, ethanol safety and handling training, and E85 brand awareness.

“E85 is a critical element in expansion of the ethanol market,” said Douglas A. Durante, Executive Director of the Clean Fuels Development Coalition. “With the blend market quickly being saturated and given the energy and CO 2 benefits of E85, we need to all be working together to expand this market,” said Durante.

The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition which has overseen the installation of hundreds of refueling facilities across the country will bring their direct and hands-on experience to the workshops. Phillip J. Lampert, Executive Director of the NEVC said, “With more fuel and vehicles becoming available everyday, refueling infrastructure becomes our next challenge. We look forward to continuing to build on our successful track record of facilitating E85 expansion through this grant.”

Todd C. Sneller, Administration, Nebraska Ethanol Board said, “Ethanol has brought jobs and wealth to Nebraska.” “By encouraging direct relationships between producers and their communities, drivers get a cheaper fuel for cars and the number of E85 pumps in Nebraska increases. It is a win-win.”
