Helena, MT
– Montana’s Governor Brian Schweitzer will help celebrate
the opening of a new E85 fueling facility at 1330 North
Montana Avenue in Helena tomorrow. The Junction Ethanol
Card Shop plans on holding a Grand Opening event and will
sell E85 for 85 cents per gallon from 7:30 a.m. until 4
p.m.
E85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent
gasoline, can be used in thousands of vehicles across
Montana. The E85 compatible vehicles include those such as
the General Motors Tahoe, the Ford Explorer, Dodge Stratus
and others. The clean burning, alternative fuel reduces
the nation’s dependency on foreign oil and supports
American farmers.
During the event, Governor Schweitzer plans on addressing
the crowd regarding his vision for ethanol at 3 p.m.
‘‘One of my goals as Governor will be the passage of an
ethanol bill,” stated the governor. “Grain production has
been the staple of Montana’s agricultural economy for more
than a century, yet our grain producers give away one
third of each year’s production in transportation costs
because we don’t create a value-added product here in
Montana.”
“We are excited to note that having only been recently
inaugurated, Governor Schweitzer is embracing ethanol as
one of his new administration’s highest priorities,” said
Phil Lampert, Executive Director of the National Ethanol
Vehicle Coalition. “We applaud Governor Schweitzer for his
leadership and look forward to working with him to assist
our nation in becoming more energy independent.”
