Hastings, NE
– E85
will sell for 85 cents per gallon tomorrow at Nebraska’s
sixth E85 retail station in the state. The promotion
will be at the Pump & Pantry at 1630 E.
South Street in Hastings celebrating the opening of the
new alternative fuel pump. It is the second E85 location opened
by Bosselman Energy in
Nebraska and the discounted fuel will sell from 10 a.m.
until 5 p.m.
Fred
Bosselman, President of Bosselman Energy, Inc. stated,
“Bosselman’s is a long-time marketer of ethanol fuels in
Nebraska and other Midwestern states. We view the
marketing of E85 as an opportunity to expand our slate of
fuel products that contain ethanol produced in Nebraska.
We believe this is the right thing to do to support
Nebraska-based companies and farmers, as well as respond
to demand for clean burning, renewable fuels.”
Nebraska
ranks third in U.S. corn production with approximately 1.3
billion bushels produced annually, and produces more than
520 million gallons of ethanol annually at 11 ethanol
plants. The state has sold over 500,000 gallons of E85 to
date in 2004.
"E85
is a clean‑burning, domestically grown alternative
transportation fuel that can be used in a growing number
of vehicles being produced today,” said Phil Lampert,
Executive Director for the NEVC. “Today, ethanol made from
corn reduces petroleum fuel use by 98,000 barrels per day
and provides jobs for American farmers."
Todd
Sneller, Administrator of the Nebraska Ethanol Board,
noted that recently enacted federal tax laws may encourage
expanded marketing of E85. “Recent changes in the federal
ethanol incentive are designed to increase ethanol
marketing options and provide flexibility to fuel
marketers. These changes will facilitate marketing of all
ethanol blends including E85,” stated Sneller.
The
event will be co-sponsored by the Nebraska Ethanol Board,
the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition (NEVC), and
Bosselman Energy, Inc. A press conference will
kick-off the event at 9:30 a.m.
