Hinton,
Iowa -
The Farmers
Cooperative Company will be offering
E85 for 85 cents
a
gallon to
flexible-fuel vehicle drivers during their grand opening
event on September
24 at the Hinton Ampride.
E85, a
blend of 85 % ethanol and 15% gasoline, will be available
for 85 cents per gallon
from
7
to
11
a.m.
on Friday,
September
24.
The station will be serving
their homemade donuts with coffee during the event.
“It's
here. The Cenex Ampride station in Hinton now is offering
E85 for flexible-fuel vehicles. E85 is the farmer
friendly 85% ethanol blend made from corn grown right here
in Iowa. E85 is the renewable fuel that is good for you
and your vehicle. It just makes sense,” said Roger Price,
General Manager of the Farmers Cooperative Co., who owns
the station.
E85 is
a high-powered, clean-burning fuel that can be used in
flexible-fuel vehicles (FFVs). According to Iowa DOT
reports, there are nearly 50,000 FFVs on the roads in Iowa
today such as the Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Taurus, and
Chrysler mini-van. Check with your local auto dealer or
your owner’s manual to see if you can use this
clean-burning, high-performing renewable fuel.
“With
Iowa slated to be the number one ethanol producer in the
nation in 2005 and 82 percent of our ethanol currently
being shipped out to the coasts, the time is right for
Iowa to work on establishing new markets for ethanol here
at home,” said Christi Vander Voort, Iowa E85 Coordinator
for the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition.
During
the Hinton grand opening event, donuts and coffee will be
served and door prizes will be awarded.
Vander
Voort will be available during the event to answer any
questions about E85 and FFVs, and Kneffler Chevrolet,
Motor Inn and LeMars Ford will be on hand to show off the
FFVs on display and discuss their engines and performance.
The Hinton Ampride is Iowa’s thirteenth E85 facility and is
open 24 hours a day to the public, state and federal
vehicles.
