Current world events related directly to the cost of petroleum are resulting in
changes for the fuel market. Opportunities exist for retailers to boost profit
margins via the sale of E85, a renewable-based, American-made alternative to gasoline.
As regular unleaded prices exceed $2.50 per gallon, consumers are looking for
alternatives. And, concern is growing over the United States' continuing dependence
on imported petroleum; especially, what America imports from politically unstable
areas.
The availability of E85 at retail service stations and fleet operations is
improving throughout the country. This expansion is made possible by both
installation of new equipment or the simple conversion of existing petroleum
equipment. As the price of premium gasoline has approached record highs,
its sales have dwindled. For many retailers, E85 has become a more profitable
option.
